Background
Family lore is that the parents of sisters Joan, Marie and Teresa Barker were John Joseph Barker (1903-1975) and Margaret Mary Walsh (1905-1992). Further, John Barker was the eldest son of George Barker and Mary Doyle, and Margaret Walsh was the third daughter of James Walsh and Mary McDonnell.
It is easy enough to flesh out these facts with information from the Web (Time Line part 1). The question then is who were George Barker and Mary Doyle, and James Walsh and Mary McDonnell. This is not easy to pin down because Irish family history records are sparse (Sources) and the family names are quite common. In particular, (a) there are no worthwhile census records for Ireland before 1901, and (b) Roman Catholic parish registers do not record father's occupation. Still, soldier on. Time Line part 2 shows earlier members of the Barker family and the rationale for these claims.

Amelia was Irish and the family clearly lived in Ireland for many years, at least from 1875-1887. I can't find the family in the 1891 UK census so perhaps they were still in Ireland then. George claimed to have been born in Wexford about 1874. And in the 1911 English census Amelia claimed to be from Wexford.
This fits neatly with this marriage between Robert Barker and Amelia Truscott ...
and with these children ...

The Castletown mentioned above is, I think, Castletown House, Carne and not the Castletown near Gorey. I can't find Castletown House on the map but it is mentioned elsewhere. For example, it was reported that "Captain Hunt, agent to Sir Hugh Palliser, reported to be fired at on his way home from Wexford to Castletown House, Carne, 1847. It was generally believed at the time that he was not fired at — that some person was fowling near where he was passing. However that may be, Captain Hunt had two policemen to guard him until near his death, which took place a few years afterwards.

So, who were Robert Barker born 1795 in Ashley, Surrey and Ann his wife, born 1797 in London Colney?
Robert Barker's origin is obscure. In the 1841 census he claimed he was not born in Hertfordshire. The 1851 census records that he was born in 1795 in Ashley, Surrey. There is no Ashley parish, town or village in Surrey, so where did he mean? Maybe Ashley Park, close to Walton-on-Thames? Certainly there is 'evidence' of a 'lost' Ashley in Walton, with a number of streets including the name Ashley located just South of the town center. The 1861 census says born 1796 in Lewes, Sussex. This seems to be a clerical error.

and I cannot find baptisms for David Barker born about 1835 or John Barker born about 1838 (some non-conformist groups did not baptise infants). Fortunately John was born after the civil licensing of births was introduced in 1837, and FreeBMD has [Q3 1838 Hatfield 6 462],

28 Sep 1845 Mary Ann Barker, age 19 (b. 1826), buried in Hatfield, Hertfordshire
Q3 1845 Mary Ann Barker death registered [Hatfield 6 309]
The story of Amelia Truscott and her father George Truscott continues here.
Robert Barker's origins are obscure. In the 1841 census he claimed not to have been born in Hertfordshire. The 1851 census records that he was born in 1795 in Ashley, Surrey. There is no Ashley parish, town or village in Surrey, but there once was an Ashley Park, close to Walton-on-Thames. Ashley Park is now a private residential neighbourhood of Walton-on-Thames but back in the early 1800s it was a private 450 acre estate. There is 'evidence' of this 'lost' Ashley in Walton, with a number of streets named Ashley located just South of the center. The 1861 census says born 1796 in Lewes, Sussex. This seems to be a clerical error.
A search of the parish registers (Freereg, FindMyPast) does not detect the baptism of a Robert Barker in or near Walton. If he was born in Walton, he was not baptised CofE.

You might think finding this birth would be an easy next step. In fact, without census records to help, we get lost in a sea of names.
Just one baptism meets these criteria and looks like a perfect fit ...

The same applies to Catherine X, born about 1847 in Queens County and married to James Walsh
